It's not often a city experiences that kind of jump in a single year. But the team know from the data behind this that there are 71 places difference between Sheffield’s actual performance ranking (37th - the 'hard data' elements), and their perception (108th - audience survey element).

This confirmed what they already knew: awareness is their biggest challenge. It's why in 2024 they had commissioned a piece of work to establish a proper place brand proposition, and address the everlasting question: what does Sheffield stand for?
