Chile’s Green Hydrogen Strategy
Entered by Fundación Imagen de Chile
Climate change is a reality that affects the entire world, and the commitment of nations is key to addressing it. In this context, green hydrogen (GH2) — a clean, zero-emission fuel produced using renewable energy — emerges as one of the most promising solutions for both the present and the future. Chile has unique conditions for its production: in the north, the country has the most intense solar radiation on the planet, and in the south, strong winds. This, combined with the stability of their regulatory framework and the technological and innovative capacity of their people, forecasts that Chile will have (by 2030) the lowest levelised cost of GH2 production in the world.
As an emerging industry, both public and private stakeholders lacked a coordinated communication strategy to showcase Chile’s competitive advantages abroad. Efforts were moving forward on separate tracks. The team identified here a major opportunity: to collaborate through communication in order to position Chile as a global benchmark in the production and export of green hydrogen. To achieve this, it was essential to unify efforts, create a common narrative, and develop a coherent visual identity that would attract international investment and demonstrate that GH2 is already becoming a reality in Chile.
