In 2024, Calgary launched its new place brand: Blue Sky City. This brand propelled Calgary beyond existing stereotypes as a Western, oil and gas town and reflected the new vision for the city: where friendly locals, unmatched natural beauty, and urban amenities converge to create a city that feels as bright and full of possibility as the 333 days of sunshine that the region enjoys.
Fast forward to spring 2025 - US tariffs and economic uncertainty were on the horizon, and Canadians began looking closer to home for their next getaway. Domestic travel was projected to rise and Tourism Calgary had a critical opportunity to establish Calgary as a top destination for Canadian travellers.
