16th Street Denver

16th Street Denver

Entered by DNCO

Once a bustling corridor in the centre of Denver’s downtown, 16th Street Mall had faded from the city’s collective mindset. The team at DNCO helped reshape 16th Street’s brand to reclaim its role as a defining destination, capturing its spirit as a stage for culture, community and local business.

Designed by I.M. Pei and opened in 1982, 16th Street was envisioned as a bold statement of American urban renewal. But over time — with the rise of online shopping, COVID, the shift to remote work, lingering confusion from 1990s-era mall branding, and major construction — Denver had grown disconnected from its main thoroughfare. The street needed a brand that could capture its renewed energy, counter negative perceptions, and invite people back to experience it.
