Beyond traditional metrics: A new lens on Downtown San Francisco
Entered by Downtown SF Partnership
Downtown San Francisco's recovery has been difficult to understand through traditional indicators alone. Measures such as office vacancy, commuter activity, and storefront vacancy capture important challenges, but they do not necessarily reveal the full range of changes taking place across the district.
For the Downtown SF Partnership (DSFP), this created both an intelligence and communications challenge. The team needed better ways to understand what was driving activity downtown, where economic momentum was emerging, and how existing conditions could inform more strategic economic development decisions. They also needed to translate those findings into information that policymakers, businesses, property owners, investors, and the public could easily understand and use.
