⚡ Collaboration needs to be institutional. Put the structures and governance in place that will ensure your partnerships extend beyond your term in office.  

⚡ Together, you can achieve outcomes for your place that couldn’t be delivered independently. Make sure you’re tracking that impact over time to advocate for the importance of collaboration. 

⚡ When you invest in your place, you invest in your people – and you invest in the pride they have in their home.  

⚡ You’re not buying a logo – that’s just the sexy part that you see at the end. You’re really investing in a strategy, in principles, and in new ideas – but you need to educate your stakeholders and your community about this to head off potential conflict.   

⚡ Legacy planning should be embedded in all your activities. Ask yourself – how does this deliver for my community next year? In five years? Or in ten years’ time? Legacy isn't created accidentally. It's designed through collaboration.  

⚡ Place branding can be challenging. It can be messy, and it can’t be a once-and-done activity. You need grit, resilience, and sheer hard graft to deliver everything that underpins the marketing and the brand and truly delivers quality of life for your residents.
